Note: Out of respect for intellectual property rights, I only share work samples that I’ve modified to remove intellectual property, or that are old enough so that organizations do not mind me sharing the information.
Please contact me if you’d like to see a work sample for a type of content that isn’t listed here. I’d be happy to create something for you.
Technical Writing
Concept and Task
Straightforward and informational, I created these two work samples with a style that is similar to GitLab’s four major documentation topic types (CTRT).
Audience: System Administrators. Sample: Authenticating a third-party app integration with software that your organization manages.
Audience: General Public. Sample: Linking directly to specific content in a Google document.
Same Content, Multiple Uses
I used one storyboard and audio script, with minimal edits, to create a quick reference card, how-to video, and elearning.
Curriculum Development
Blended Learning
Blending live, online training with self-paced elements can help your employees learn while minimizing non-billable time.
Audience: Newly Hired Sales Representatives. Sample: A training plan with an instructor guide and slides.
Audience: CRM Software Instructors. Sample: A training plan with interactive workshop activities, slides, and a class webpage.
Never Stop Learning
For me, half the fun of working in technical communication is that I’m continually learning, even when I’m documenting a software application or designing curriculum! These are some of my favorite personal projects:
xAPI and
Google Analytics
xAPI goes above and beyond SCORM, providing a level of feedback about learning and performance that we’ve never had before. I’m interested in the specifics of how xAPI will affect the design of my learning solutions.
The #PracticalxAPI project allows me to document the results of my tests and share the findings with the learning and development community.
During Infotech‘s Hackathon 2018, I had two days to play! My goal: use xAPI and Google Analytics to make learning more useful.
