Project Background and Description
A pharmaceutical company was launching a completely new team, the Diabetes Educators (DEs). The DEs are not salespeople. Instead, they educate healthcare providers and patients on the disease state, treatment options, and devices used to administer diabetes medications. Most were hired from outside the company, and had not previously worked for a pharmaceutical company or used a CRM system.
I was asked to design a full day of instructor-led training for the CRM system that the rest of the organization was already using. In addition, I was asked to lead a full-day VILT Train-the-Trainer (TTT) for the members of our training team who would travel to Las Vegas to train the DEs.
Confidentiality
Since many pharmaceutical companies prefer to keep their training content confidential, I have edited the content and colors of these work samples to remove any reference to a particular company.
Training Plan
Since our training team already had a wealth of experience with the standard version of Siebel 8.x, I decided to focus the TTT on the specifics of the customized Siebel CRM system. So that the trainers could have as much time as possible to prepare for the training, and practice with the software, I decided to use a flipped classroom model.
Since I ran this TTT only once, and since I also designed the participant materials, the client did not provide funding for me to create an instructor guide for the TTT. However, with the goal of making the TTT as interactive as possible, I did create a class web page, some slides, and a set of workshop questions.
VILT Classes
I trained this full-day Train-the-Trainer VILT class using these materials:
- The participant materials for the Diabetes Educators.
- My handwritten notes about how I wanted to run the TTT.
- Materials I created for the TTT: slides, class web page and workshop questions.
- A training version of the CRM software.
The trainers and I stayed on the audio and web conference all day, with the exception of the lunch hour. At times, the trainers worked independently, while I was available to them for questions. At other times, I led group activities and discussion. Learn more about the types of interactive activities I included in the TTT.
